Got a question (or a few) for me?
Chances are, you'll find an answer below. However, if you're still unclear about anything related to the design process, feel free to send me an e-mail at hello@andreacrofts.com. I'd be happy to clarify! The following are some general questions I'm often asked about the design process:
What are your core services?
I specialize in digital product design, responsive web design, native app design (iOS/Android), branding + identity, and illustration.
Can you tell me a bit more about the design process?
I love working collaboratively with clients, and live to make design dreams a reality. If you're interested in working with me, feel free to reach out for a one-on-one consultation via phone or Skype. We'll discuss the details of your project and see if we're a good fit to work together! I'll also send a questionnaire in order to get a better feel for your business goals & project objectives.
Then, to save your place in my design queue, I'll craft a contract and send you an invoice for the full project amount. However, only the first deposit of 50% is due before the project kicks off.
I'll begin designing, and we'll outline completion dates for various stages of the project. The fun begins! Once we've completed the project, I'll send you all files in a Dropbox folder (png, jpg, pdf, and eps in some cases) for you to use, and send it once I've received final payment. For website design, I will hand over design files via Dropbox, and the login credentials in a spreadsheet after final payment is received.
You can find a more detailed outline of the process here.
What role do I (the client) play in the project?
Clients play a significant role in the design process! Because design is an iterative and collaborative process, communication is crucial to ensure that we can get as close to reading each others' minds as possible. The reason I love design is because it helps clients see their company, project or creation in a whole new light. I want you to be proud of what we create together! Because of this, there is quite a bit of back-and-forth, but I promise we'll make it fun.
How much do you charge?
Because most of the projects I take on are suited to my clients' specific needs, I prefer to custom quote by project rather than providing broad price ranges. However, for design packages such as logo design, blog design and web design, I've compiled a handy price sheet that contains itemized project pricing & a number of popular add-ons.
What is your hourly rate?
Hourly rates range based on skill set (it's different for digital design, identity and illustration), but I prefer to price by project rather than by the hour. Design is a fluid process and is difficult to be broken down into bite-size chunks.
How do you accept payments?
Total payments are divided into either 2 or 3 payments, with at least 30% of the total project invoice being paid before the project begins. This payment serves as your deposit to hold your place in my design queue, and is non-refundable. Prompt payments enable the design process to accelerate quickly!
What methods of payment do you accept?
I accept payments by credit card, cheque (made out to Andrea Crofts Creative Inc.), and e-transfer. Cheque and e-transfer payments are preferred.
Do you draft contracts?
Before beginning a project, I will send a contract and/or project proposal to outline the scope, terms, and conditions of your project and our working relationship. Once this contract is signed and returned to me and the first deposit has been paid, your project will be begin on a mutually agreed upon start date!
What is the process for feedback and revisions?
Feedback takes place primarily through e-mail, and/or a collaboration tool like InVision. This method provides you with ample time and flexibility to review design proofs in a way that fits into your busy schedule. All proofs are sent as pdf files. For larger projects, proofs and design files will be uploaded to a Dropbox folder in order to keep everything in one place.
If needed, how many revisions can I make?
Specific numbers of revisions are included in every project proposal. Most stages of the design process include 2 rounds of revisions. To make the most of this allotted number, your feedback should be well thought out every time. Any changes made after a design has been approved will be billed at my hourly rate.
When can we start?
We can start dreaming & pinning right away, but an official start date will be outlined in our contract based on both our schedules and your overall timeline.
Feel free to reach out to me at hello@andreacrofts.com if you have any additional questions, or if you're ready to begin!
